Notion is a free notes app, and it's where your notebook lives. That's what makes it yours. You can open it, read it and change it, and it stays in one place no matter which chat or project you're in. You never have to open it if you don't want to.
No. You never have to touch Notion if you don't want to. Notion is just where your memory lives, like a notebook Claude keeps for you. Claude does all the reading and writing. You make a free account, connect it, and change one setting. Claude walks you through both.
No. You attach one file, make a free Notion account and connect it, and answer a few easy questions. Claude walks you through each part and does all the building. The one setting you change yourself lets Claude save to Notion without asking you every time.
No. Claude works the same as before, with a few new rules: look in your notebook before answering about your life, save what's worth keeping, and tell you when it does. AI follows rules most of the time, not every time. So if Claude seems lost, say "check Notion." Your chats aren't touched. Setup changes one setting, which lets Claude save to Notion without asking each time. To turn Simple Memory off, delete the rules from your Instructions for Claude and disconnect Notion.
No. Just talk to Claude like you always do. Its rules tell it to save what's worth keeping and to say so when it does. Want to be sure something's saved? There are four shortcuts, like "remember this." Forget them? Ask Claude "what can I say?"
It does, and it's good. Keep it on. Claude's memory is Claude's own notes about you, kept inside Claude. You can read and change those too, in Settings. Simple Memory is one notebook in your own Notion, set up with you, with a place for people, projects, decisions and dates. Any chat or project can read it when you say "check Notion." One more difference, in Anthropic's own words: "Each project has its own separate memory space and dedicated project summary, so the context within each of your projects is focused, relevant, and separate from other projects or non-project chats." (Claude help page, read October 2, 2026.) Your notebook is one place for all of them.
No. We built and tested it on Claude's free plan. You'll also need a free Notion account. One heads-up: the free plan limits how many messages you can send. If you hit the limit during setup, come back later and Claude picks up right where you left off.

It lives in your own Notion account, and we never see it. Claude reads it when you chat, the same way it reads anything you tell it. You can read, edit or delete any of it at any time.
Not on its own. Your AI only acts when you open a chat. Its rules tell it to look at your Calendar when a chat starts, so it often brings up what's coming. For anything you can't miss, keep your own reminder. For alerts on your phone, you can also connect your own calendar to Claude, if your plan offers it.
